I’d love to know the origin of your surname Holik since mine is Hollick. Mine was originally Holic and they were from Tura Luka, Slovakia. How about yours?
Hi, All:
My grandmother and great uncle, Katerina and Pavel Vacula and their two sisters were from Tura Luka. Their father was Juraj and their mother was Alzbeta Zeman. In trying to find the names of the two sisters, I’ve been looking at female Vaculas entering EI. On May 22, 1899, a Beta Vacula immigrated from Tura Luka and her point of contact was her brother-in-law, Stefan Holic. I can’t make out the city or state. Do any of you have Vaculas in your family?
I do not have any Vacula’s in my Holik tree. It looks like for that ship log she is going to Madison ???? It almost looks like NY is in part of her ship log so going to NY?
Martin,
My Holik’s are from Senetin, Bohemia. I had some research done there that took us back to the early 1800′s/late 1700′s and the name was still spelled Holik in the records.
Great website! I enjoyed visiting. I follow you on my Google Reader.
