I recently rejoined the Czechoslovak Genealogical Society International and wanted to share what a great resource it is for researchers.
The society publishes a journal, Nase Rodina “Our Family” quarterly. It is filled with great research stories and tips. Members also receive research assistance, message board and query access, and searchable databases. Included in these databases is the set of Leo Baca’s Czech Immigration Passenger books.
The society will be holding its annual conference in St. Louis next October. 26-29. Speakers such as Leo Baca, Lisa Alzo, and Jan Dus will be presenting. I heard Rev. Jan Dus speak at a local Czech genealogy meeting in Chicago and he was fantastic. He also provides research services in the Czech Republic. The members of the genealogy society who used his services had nothing but praise for him.
The society has many other offerings so be sure to check them out if you are researching Czech, Bohemian, Moravian, Slovak, German, Hungarian, Jewish, Rusyn, and Silesian families.
